WOW does med school fly by. At times, it certainly seems like it is dragging on forever, but it really does go by so fast. I think the fact that you are constantly doing different things makes it go by fast. The first two years definitely drag on the slowest, but even during those years, you have little landmarks to get you through. Whether it’s your first day, test, semester, or year. Once you get to 3rd and 4th year, rotations fly by and you are constantly onto the next thing. Then all of a sudden you have completed all of your board exams and are applying to residency.
I have been told that 4th-year is the best year, so I am really looking forward to it. During 4th-year, you can do rotations pretty much anywhere. A lot of people use this opportunity to rotate at places where they might want to go to residency. It helps the residency programs get to know you better during the application process and definitely gives you a better idea if you like that program. On top of all that, the first semester is interview season. After interview season is over, you have time to do international rotations as well! Needless to say, it’s going to be a crazy year of travels. The tests are over, and now everything is just up to our performance during audition rotations and interviews. It’s going to be an interesting year!
