Now that I know where I’ll be spending the next 3 years, it’s been crazy getting ready for the transition. Already I’ve been bombarded by many emails, with a TON of forms that need to be filled out. Medical license applications, signing contracts, vaccination record, and random drug testing. It has been very overwhelming.
Since I’ll be living in an entirely new city, I have to find a new place to live and eventually buy a new car because that is the only way I’ll be able to get to work in Providence. I feel like there are a million things I need to do already, and Match Day was not that long ago!
I wrote a post about how I feared getting rusty before entering residency. I’ve never felt it more acutely than I do now. On the other hand, the rational part of me understands that every resident has gone through the exact same thing at some point in time so I am sure I will be fine. The fact that my start date is June 12th adds a tiny of anxiety. That’s so soon!
Brown has been great so far though. Soon after I matched, I received a phone call from a resident who told me things about the program. I’ve received several emails from the program coordinators about things to do and encouraging words.
As soon as I wrote those words, I got an email from the VA with another set of forms to fill out!
