White Coat was a Success! My family was awesome, I was able to wear my high heels (even with the injury!!!), and I was able to meet more of my classmates. These people are awesome! I am unsure of how the medical school does it but they do a really good job of getting a good group of people together! Even the dinner went off without a hitch! I cannot begin to explain the amount of gratitude I felt for the outpouring of support that I got this weekend. Family came in from all over the country and one of my friends even worked 16 hours straight to ensure that she made it to see me! Later that night, a classmate had a small shindig at her place where I met more people and really made some good connections. Many of us are from Columbus so common roots seems to be a nice way to make new friends!
The first day of school was mostly orientation stuff but I still had some jitters. With all of the paperwork and newly assigned homework looming I got a little concerned but I think I can handle it. My school sets you up with a “Big” or a second year medical student who you have something in common with. Your “Big” is there for advice, support, and resources. I met mine and she’s awesome too!!! I am now off to the class cookout and I am very excited to see what the rest of the year will bring. Through the highs and lows, I am sure that I will have great friends, tons of resources, and lots of love and support.
