Obstetrics and Gynecology aka OBGYN so far has been a blast! I have had so many questions about why my rotation is longer than most so I wanted to talk about why I chose to do 10 weeks of OBGYN. S
ince I am considering OBGYN as a future profession, I decided to combine my elective with my core rotation for a total of 10 weeks to gain the full experience and see the full spectrum of the profession. One of the main reasons I love this profession so much is because it is the perfect balance of primary care with surgery. I am also able to include my love of women’s health with medicine to help alleviate the health disparities faced by our patients. I’ve also been lucky enough to have mentors who have taught me so much more that I would have ever imagined I could do as a medical student. Although the hours are tough and I can always use more sleep, I wake up every day excited to work my preceptor and see our patients.
I guess when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like going to work anymore. Here is to another 5 weeks!
