PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – In a move pundits are calling “bold” and “revolutionary,” today the NBME announced the release of its new USMLE Step 1 Plus. “This is the same test we all know and love,” said John Goodman, a spokesman for the NBME, “but packed with some exciting new features.” These include an all-new design, IDTouch™ fingerprint authorization, and high definition images. “We’ve also managed to increase the number of questions on the test, yet reduce the amount of time– a truly amazing technological achievement,” said Goodman.
Medical students everywhere are also excited for the Step 1 Plus. “I took the Step One last year,” said Tina Patel, a third year medical student, “but with all these new features I can’t help but take this one too.” The Step 1 Plus will be launching next week at Prometric centers nationwide, and people have already begun camping out for its launch. “At only $999 for the basic version, this would make a great holiday gift for any self-loathing medical student on your list,” said Goodman. Goodman also added that the previous USMLE Step 1 is no longer compatible with any future NRMP applications. •
