This week was AHHH-MAZING! I absolutely love my classmates and I am going to be very sad that the nightly social events to help us to mingle won’t happen again for a little while. Part of the week was orientation stuff, the other part was class time, regardless, I have loved it all! I learned about some awesome opportunities to get involves in some student organizations including one that visits schools and teaches students about the body and another that allows you to practice your clinical skills at a free clinic! I am planning on joining them both! We did a challenge course as a part of our orientation and I was definitely pushed to my limit. While in the woods, we rappelled, rock climbed, and did some serious team building activities. All I can say is the members of team 5 (saving lives!) were supportive and exactly the type of team that I know will help me get though medical school.
My present class is Human Development, which explores the developmental milestones from birth to death as well as the theories behind them. I am enjoying this class quite a bit. It is a lot of psychology but I enjoy it. The studying is quite a bit different from Prematric. I am working through changing my study habits to be able to organize the information for our first exam next week. I love flash cards but they don’t work as well for lists so I am going to try using mnemonics! I will definitely let you know how that goes. Some of the material I have seen before but much of it is new and very interesting. I cannot decide if this class will help me when I have kids or have me terrified that they aren’t progressing properly! Either way, I have to say that this is pretty cool. The amount of studying that I will have to do for the rest of this year’s curriculum is sure to be unreal just looking at the time that I am already spending on what I have been told is our easiest class. Regardless, I am excited for what the rest of the year will bring. One thing is for sure, time management here is no joke! Back to studying I go. I’ve got my first exam next Friday!
