I can say that I successfully passed my first class of medical school! Stressing over the studying gave me enough of a headache to know, I will not be participating in weekday social events nightly ever again! I studied for 30 of the last 48 hours and pulling the equivalent of an A on the multiple-choice portion but if I had managed my evenings better, I would not have been in this predicament (we won’t have final grades on the essay portion for a while, unfortunately but I know that I passed so all smiles here). I have also found that mnemonics are one of my favorite learning tools and my flashcards are still making me proud. I guess I wasn’t expecting for the class to be as subjective as it was but I definitely enjoyed it.
The next thing on the agenda after celebrating with my classmates on this lovely afternoon and spending time with my family since I wont be seeing them until after my next big exam is starting the material for Anatomy. Our lectures are online so if you don’t get ahead and leave time to focus your review before our Team Based Learning assignments, you will definitely be left in the dust and confused. The idea of studying for a class that hasn’t started yet is a new one for me but if it allows me to ensure that I stay on track, I’m all for it! I’ll keep you posted on how well that works out. I am hoping to be always one TBL ahead so that I have time to study and I won’t be overwhelmed for the exams. With that, I have a gathering to attend! 🙂
