I just received my Sub-I orientation packet! Its official now, I’m back to doing what I love. I am a little bit nervous though. This is the real deal. I’m not a third year anymore. Greater expectations, more opportunities, this year is going to be fantastic! With only 1 shelf exam, I’ll be able to focus my energies into the practice of medicine rather than a test. I’ve found that I learn best that way. There is just one more little thing to complete…Residency Applications!
ERAS, or the residency application service is quite an interesting tool to use. I had not realized just how long this will take but I am very excited at being able to take this next step. My CV and personal statement are done, letters are rolling in, and now, I just need to get all of my information into the system. Making a list of programs is also going to be incredibly challenging. There are so many options! Unopposed versus opposed, in the city versus rural, I’m really interested in seeing all of the different programs and how each of them approached the making of a great family physician. I’m looking forward to sharing this process with you all. This truly is a new beginning.
