I thought it would be worthwhile to share some tips of the trade for those on research. Literature reviews are often solicited by journals from prominent researchers. The task of writing the review often falls to the graduate student in the lab (like myself), and it can be a great opportunity to delve into the literature and history of a field.
While trying to plan out how to tackle what can be a task as amorphous as “reviewing the literature”, I found this article “Ten Simple Rules for Writing a Literature Review.” Published by the Public Library of Science (an open source journal), it provides some insightful and handy tips for efficiently writing a literature review. Rather than reinvent the wheel here, I thought I’d pass on their insights. Happy Pubmedding to all.
