KYCOM just started interviews two weeks ago and I cannot believe it has already been one year since I interviewed! Time truly flies. Interview season is so exciting, but also stressful! Here are tips to make your season go by a little bit more smoothly:
- Have your suit ready. Whether you already have a professional outfit or you plan to buy one, make sure you are comfortable in it. Double check to make sure it’s packed and ready to go along with any shoes or accessories. I always ironed my suit the day before my interview so that on actual interview day I don’t have to do anything extra.
- Check the dates on your flight ticket and hotel. In the midst of interview season, I had three back to back interviews in three different states. That means A LOT of connecting flights, rental cars, and hotels. Stay organized and take pressure off of you by planning transportation and living arrangements early.
- Bring a portfolio. I had a black portfolio that I brought on the interview trail. Inside the portfolio, I had a pen, my license, and blank paper. I used this to jot down any information that I thought would impact my choice to attend a school. This made it a lot easier for me to remember details about a school even months after I attended an interview.
- Be yourself. The medical school is interviewing you but remember you are also interviewing the school. Go in with confidence and remember why you started on this journey.
If you have any specific questions about interview season, please feel free to reach out! Good luck finding your school!
