I finished taking Step 2 at 5:05 PM, and miraculously made my flight to the American Academy of Family Physicians National Conference in Kansas City, Missouri at 6 PM!
The AAFPNC is pretty unique to family medicine. While there are lots of workshops and talks on a variety of subjects in the field, probably the biggest part of the conference is the residency Expo where nearly every family medicine residency program in the country is represented. The massive expo hall is organized by geographic region which makes searching for your dream residency program as easy as possible for lots of excited fourth-year medical students.
I had a great time attending sessions on the residency application process, talking to prospective residency programs, and meeting other like minded medical students, many of whom I will likely run into again on the interview trail. I left feeling motivated to get working on my residency application and excited for the possibilities that lie ahead!
