It is crazy to think that in just a few short weeks I will be finding out where I am going to match for residency. For those of you who might not be familiar with the process (because I remember I sure wasn’t when I was a premedical student), Match Day is one of those important milestones in a medical student’s life. It is a weeklong process usually at the end of March when medical students find out where they will be working as residents in the following years to come after graduation. The Monday of match week is when fourth-year medical students find out if they matched or not through an email that is sent. Then those that have matched will wait until Friday of that same week to find out where they have matched. Those that did not match for whatever reason will participate in a process where they will apply to programs that also went unmatched. On that Friday, medical schools usually hold a ceremony where students will celebrate their accomplishments with their loved ones. To those participating in the match, I wish you all the best of luck and regardless of what happens, we are all going to be amazing doctors!
