Music is often times the best therapy and I find myself using it in many different aspects of my daily schedule. From my top 40 playlists to my serene ocean vibes, I can always count on the sounds coming from my headphones to heal the stressors of my day.
#MorningCoffee
It all starts with the jams I play when I wake up in the morning which are a mix of motivational duets to top 2000s that I gladly sing in the shower thanks to my waterproof radio. I find myself happier, joyful, and ready for what the day has to lay ahead, especially after that 4 AM alarm goes off.
#Top40spop
These tunes play after morning rounds and the first half of clinic is finished. I have just picked up my sandwich and iced tea, ready to tackle some notes while chatting with my co-residents. It’s just hard not to put on a smile and sing along when you have positivity dancing around the room.
#RunningvibesÂ
I usually switch between the sounds of my neighborhood and my intense running playlist depending on my mood. But when I am back from work and need to get a good run in with some background music, this playlist is the one to go to. The motivational tracks and fast beats usually get me through my 6-8 miles for the day.
#Sleepmelody
I usually have to have some background noise to fall asleep in and just recently I’ve discovered various playlists that are made to help people fall asleep. I personally enjoy the nature sounds, from oceans to forests and everything in between has been on the top of my playlists. The best part is that I can set my timer for how long to play so I don’t miss my alarm in the mornings.
Music has a way of connecting our minds to our bodies. It’s a vital part of my day and helps increase those endorphins that keep me going when I am near the point of giving up. I’ve never really thought about how therapeutic those little notes can be when put together to create a melody. So don’t forget to #keepmusicinmind the next time you’re feeling blue.
