I know this isn’t the usual post, but I started thinking about the things that we do every day and why we do them. Right now, it’s important to hold on to some sense of normalcy from our old normal. It’s hard to uproot from what we once knew to do something completely different. Something from my routine that hasn’t changed that I still do every single day is my makeup. It’s important to me. It is an artistic outlet. It makes me feel put together. And most importantly, I do it for me. I miss our old normal, but I am all for doing what’s right in protecting those around me and protecting myself. So, if you can, keep some things from your routine the same. If you’re looking to learn something new, try makeup or gardening or learning a new sport.
I thought I would share my 5 makeup essentials and my super quick 10-minute makeup routine if you’re looking for a pick-me-up before heading to the hospital.
First, I always wear moisturizer and sunscreen prior to starting my makeup. I think skincare and hydration are essential. I did not include it in my 5 steps though.
1 – Concealer: I spot conceal in the areas I think I need it—places where I may have hyperpigmentation or redness. Then I blend it out with my most trusted beauty tool—my fingers. Be sure to wash your hands prior to starting your makeup. You don’t want to transfer bacteria on your face.
2 – Powder: I set the concealer and take away shine with a pressed powder. Fast and leaves you with a great canvas!
3 – 3-in-1 Bronzer, Blush, Highlighter Palette: I love it when I can use one product for multiple purposes. I take bronzer and contour my cheeks and nose. Then I blend the blush into the apples of my cheeks and sweep back blending it into the bronzer. I don’t like highlighter because I’m an oily-skinned gal. I’ve got plenty of my own shine. So, I actually use the highlighter as an eyeshadow all over the lid. I take a combination of the bronzer and blush as my crease shade.
4 – Mascara: This is pretty self-explanatory.
5 – Lip color: I swipe on a pink-toned lip color!
Voila! There’s my easy 10-minute makeup routine for the hospital. I love how it makes me feel put together and like I did something for myself! #residencylife
