As I write this, it is now officially 2018! I’ve stared at this number for the past four years because our class is the “Class of 2018.” I just can’t believe it’s finally here! In less than 150 days, I will be walking across the stage to receive my diploma and I will know where I’ll be for the next several years for residency. Every year, I try to make only a couple of small realistic new year’s resolutions and I would love to share with you guys some of them!
- Sleep more: Going into residency, I know that sleep will be something I will end up sacrificing. I want to try and take advantage of late start times and the lack of homework in the remainder of fourth-year!
- Make the most of my remaining rotations: I think it’s known across the board that the remainder of fourth-year is spent on “cruise control” but I’m going to make it a goal to be motivated on these rotations. I have several rotations that are in specialties I am not interested in but I think there is always a way to incorporate what you do like!
- Travel: Even it is hard to come up with the funds to travel, I hope to find inexpensive ways to see new places. I will be traveling to Japan in March (thanks to finding an inexpensive ticket!) but I want to explore more of the United States.
- Be healthier: I think this goal is a given. Now that audition rotations and interviews are over, the rest of fourth-year affords me more time to be more conscious of working out, eating healthy, and overall becoming more positive.
I have a feeling that 2018 is going to be a great year!
