I think this will be really fun—something different and creative especially because it’s more fun depending on your level of training. Gather your fellow M1/M2 med student colleagues and put your 10 fingers in the air! As you go through the list, lower one finger for each item that applies to you. Last one with the most fingers in the air wins! I’ll let y’all decide the reward!
- Used the phrase, “I’ll just take the hit,” before an exam.
- Diagnosed yourself with a rare disease.
- Diagnosed a family member with a disease or disorder.
- Fumbled your first open-ended question interview.
- Pulled an all-nighter.
- Asked how many years of training it takes to become a physician.
- Fallen asleep in class.
- Skipped a mandatory class.
- Remind yourself that “C’s get degrees.”
- Recruited a family member or close friend to practice a physical exam on.
- Dated someone in your class.
- Had a dream you overslept and woke up in a panic just to find it’s 3 AM, and you’re fine—you’ll be there for that board exam.
- Pulled up your calculator to do simple math because your brain is just done for the day.
- Been jealous of your friends who don’t have to go to school and train as long as you.
- Cried after an exam.
- Snapped on someone you love because you’re just so tired.
- Fallen asleep while studying.
- Discussed the exam and compare answers after you finish the exam in a lounge area outside.
- Panicked and lose all knowledge before an exam.
- Participated in “Med School Mondays” or some variation of that where you celebrate your time together as a class after an exam.
I’ll share that never have I ever diagnosed myself with a rare disease (just common ones all the time), pulled an all-nighter, skipped a mandatory class, or dated a classmate, but I may or may not be guilty of everything else on the list. I hope you enjoyed this game!
