This year is the year that I have been anticipating for a long time because not only is it the year that I will graduate medical school but also the year that I will match into residency and become one step closer to becoming an obstetrician and gynecologist. I wanted to use this post to talk about some of the ways I plan to make improvements in my life. I am not a huge fan of new year resolutions because I believe that every day there is an opportunity for change, but I thought that this year I could focus on some positive changes that I would implement every day. For example, I plan on making use of every day regardless of the current stressors going on in my life. I will do one thing for myself to make myself happy. Another goal I want to focus on every day is learning something new either in my personal or academic life. I think that life should always be new and exciting so learning something new would be a part of implementing this ideology. Lastly, I plan to highlight someone else’s accomplishments. For example, letting someone know I noticed their helpful ways or giving kudos to my colleague for stepping up and taking leadership. I find that making simple, yet attainable goals are easy to accomplish every day and will allow for the development of a positive lifestyle. What are your new year goals?
