I remember the second semester of my senior year in high school and college. During both of those times in my life, I was anticipating graduation and the next steps I would be taking in my life. Both of those time frames included some sort of activity or goal that would lead me towards medical school. However, now that I am a second-semester senior in medical school I am even more excited about what is to come given that I will finally become a physician and hopefully practice in my desired field. One of the most common questions that people ask is what do medical students do during their second semester? Most of the times many students are finishing their clinical rotations needed for graduation. Others who are finished early will travel, participate in research, or engage in mentoring lower-level medical students at their institutions. Most medical students graduate sometime around May and will begin residency July 1st so time is always of the essence!
