This weekend was a BLAST! The conference was held in Lansing, MI and while the weekend was chilly, it warmed my heart to be with my regional family. Traffic was really bad on the way up, adding an additional 2 hours to the drive. Definitely not what I was expecting but once I arrived it was all worth it. Our conference chairs did an amazing job with the speakers and activities. We had an epic game of Taboo going where the girls dominated, beating the guys by over 40 points! One of my really close friends came up from the University of Michigan to hang out with me, which made the weekend even more special. The next day we all made our way to the breast cancer walk to volunteer, which was definitely a great experience. Talking to some survivors and their families during the registration process was really eye opening. Through out the day, I had the opportunity to mingle with some other regional leaders and get a little part study part hang out time in before getting dressed for the banquet and the social event.
As always, I’m always exhausted and almost tearful to depart from these conferences. Being surrounded by people who not only care if I succeed but are going through the same exact thing makes for instantaneous connections that last a lifetime. I’m not sure where I would be without my SNMA family. On top of that, I’m not really sure how long it will be before I get to hang out with my friend again… I guess I’m one step closer to our national conference in April!
“Parting is such sweet sorrow, I shall say goodbye until it be ‘morrow.” Gearing up for the long drive back. Lets hope working ahead was in my best interest.
