
It’s okay to forget about your obligations for a bit and just detox from life! During my month-long holiday trip in Colombia, South America, this is exactly what I did. It was so refreshing to forget the stressors of my life for a bit, and just enjoy/explore a beautiful new place and culture. I spent so many hours laying by a pool, reading murder mystery books, and basking in the sun. This was so cleansing for my mind and my mental health, to take a break from stressors and school while I had the time and availability to do so.
We often get caught up in the world and our busy lives, and we don’t take as much time for ourselves that we should be. It’s important to take care of yourself or else you will become burnt out and overworked. This is unhealthy on so many levels, that we need to prevent it from happening in the first place. If you’re unable to take a trip somewhere, even just spending an afternoon at a quiet coffee/tea shop with a good book and a silenced cell phone is a great way to unwind and take a mental break.
