I just got one of the best emails of my life! I was offered the position of National Future Leadership Project Fellow for the Student National Medical Association! I was really thinking about my place in the SNMA, not just as this year is concerned but for the next two years and potentially afterwards. I know that I have several options for positions that I could potentially run for, that would allow me to keep giving my all to this great organization. However, with that said, with these options, I really wanted to get a more educated idea of how the board works so that I can make a decision of which opportunity would best fit me. Further I decided that applying for the Future Leadership Project Fellowship would give me the opportunity to experience the board more and give me the more educated look at things, just like I needed. I applied, questionably wondering, I wasn’t really sure of what would happen but I got the affirmative this morning and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m humbled and honored to be able to work for this amazing organization in an even greater capacity than I’ve already been doing. It’s crazy when I look at my history in the SNMA. I started five years ago in MAPS as a freshman. I moved up to the President of MAPS, then passed the torch and took a step back to Fundraising Coordinator. Then, once I started medical school, I stepped into chapter, regional, and now national positions… I just asked that God is with me with my time management skills and he continues to lead me and guide me along the way!
