For the longest time I wondered if I were going to be able to celebrate Thanksgiving during my clinical years. The long awaited answer was YES. It was nice to know that many healthcare facilities, minus a few, give their students a four day weekend allowing for a quick trip back home to see some missed faces, then back to the grind the following Monday. It was so nice to see my family and friends back in Maryland. While it was only for a short time, it was definitely needed. What was even more surprising was the fact that in about a month we get a Holiday break as well. I never in a million years thought I would be getting a winter break ever again. It’s nice to know that even in such an unyielding field like medicine, family and friends can still be made a priority.
