I’ll apply for this blog, I can be a blogger, I have a lot of thoughts and ideas about things! Yes, I’ll sign up for this blog, I’m a blogger now! Oh, what to blog about? Medical school, yes but what about medical school? Life in medical school? That’s really rather boring though isn’t it? Sleep, eat, study, repeat, but try not to get fat while doing so. That’s the kicker, try not to get fat. I don’t mean “try not to” in the kind, motivational way; I mean “try not to” in the mocking, I dare you, you’re destined to fail kind of way.
Getting fat? Is that what I’m going to blog about? My eternal battle against my inner sloth that threatens to take over at the smallest sign of weakness? This sloth demon that is to blame for many wasted hours vegetating on Netflix followed by the inevitable frenzy of cramming hundreds of power points into an impossibly short period of time along with frequent self-blaming sessions and grand ideas of how next time will be managed so much more efficiently! No, perhaps that topic would be slightly too revealing. Do people really want to read over and over again about how seriously my time management skills are lacking? I think not.
Think, think, thinking. The blog must have a theme, woman, you must choose something for it to revolve around, something to tie it all together, something other than just the fact that you are currently a student of medicine. What inspires you? What awes you? What keeps you coming back for more? What makes battling the sloth worth it all? The patients! Oh, wait, that could be a tricky subject. You don’t really see patients as a second year and relating your experiences could teeter uncomfortably close to violating HIPAA and one MUST NOT VIOLATE HIPAA.
So then, next thought. Art! Yes, art inspires me. Often, I even try to make art. Why, the human body, medicine itself is art! Is it not? Yes, good, this is good, art. I will make art inspired by medicine, each post a different image from anatomy, histology, microbiology, anything that inspires me! Wonderful! Each post will be a little light hearted, a distraction from my studies, and an attempt to entertain my visitors. Yes, I’m a blogger now; I think this is going to be fun.
