At the end of third-year, most students begin applying for audition rotations. Audition rotations are basically 4-week rotations at various hospitals in the specialty(ies) of your choice so that you can make connections with the programs you are applying to in the coming year.
Applying early for these rotations is very important to make sure that you get the date/time that works best with your schedule. Therefore, have ready your CV/Resume, immunizations and records, and a personal statement drafted so that you can submit them when applying.
The end of third-year is also the time for the second set of board examinations so it is important to sign up early to make sure the score report is ready before applications for residency are open. I should mention that some programs do not require that test score so make sure to check to see if you need it to apply!
Ending third-year and entering fourth-year is an exciting time because everything that we have worked for up to this point will be showcased in residency applications! I am looking forward to this journey and seeing where my path leads me. Thank you again for following along!
