During one of my interviews, I was asked this question and I thought it was an interesting and fun one to share with you all because I had never really thought about it until I was asked. When I was younger, I had always wanted to be an artist. Don’t get me wrong I am not one to be able to draw AT ALL, in fact, I am probably the worst artist you have ever met. But I loved the creative aspect of it. I loved buying a blank canvas with some watercolors or colored pencils to create something. I still do express that creativity once in a while when I am looking for a mental health break. Medicine in a way also allows me to express that creativity and be an artist of some sort. We have all heard the “art of medicine”, the ability to make clinical decisions based on experience, patient needs, and evidence-based research. It is a way to constantly learn, stimulate my brain, and bring ideas into reality. So now, I ask YOU the same question: What would you do if you didn’t pursue medicine? Comment down below!
