Recently I came across an article that sparked my interest in this post. I was reading about a physician expressing her thoughts about medicine and she broke down all the different aspects of her journey including the pros and cons that came with them. One of those aspects that resonated with me the most was the sacrifice. Along the way we make so many sacrifices which I should add are personal choices but at times might go unnoticed to those that might not be familiar with the process. For example, I will share a bit about my journey and the sacrifices that I had to make which might be the same or different compared to another medical student but nonetheless still important. For example, one of the biggest sacrifices was distance among my loved ones. I know that being away from family and partners is common among those in the medical field but now that I am getting older and recognizing how important family is to me, I am beginning to feel some of the hardships associated with distance. Although the distance is difficult, it makes the times we do spend together meaningful and valuable, but I do always wish that at times that distance was not existent. What do you think is the biggest sacrifice you have made during your journey in medicine?
